This Morning's Sunrise..November 29,2007

I was up earlier than usual this morning since we had a day trip planned.When I went outside to get the newspaper from the driveway I saw this beautiful sunrise.I came in and grabbed my camera so that I could capture the beauty of the sunrise.

Christmas Decorations at hotel

These are some pictures of some of the decorations that were in the hotel that we stayed at in Pigeon Forge TN.The hotel is The Inn at Christmas Place.

The hotel and rooms are decorated in a Christmas theme year around.Santa makes an appearance every morning at the complimentary breakfast.We stayed there Thanksgiving evening.

Our Weekend Get Away

We went on a get away over our grandson's Thanksgiving break.This is a picture of the nativity scene that I took that was on the ledge of the hotel lobby.

We went to Pigeon Forge and stayed at The Inn at Christmas Place.It is decorated year round in a Christmas theme.Christmas music was also playing.Staying there really put us in a Christmas mood.

Thanksgiving evening we attended the Christmas Show and dinner at The Dixie Stampede.Every seat was taken.It surprised us how many people got away for Thanksgiving.The Christmas show kept our 6 year old grandson's attention from beginning to end.Our 3 year old granddaughter wasn't as thrilled though.

I'll write more about our trip and show more pictures as the days go by.

Last Week's Snow

I wasn't able to post these snow pictures last week due to my ISP having problems.They don't show much snow but thought I would post them any way since it was our first snow of the season.

The picture showing darkness was taking the evening before.The second picture was taken the next morning.The sun had been out so most of the snow had already melted.

We had about two inches of snow but the ground was quite warm due to warm temperatures earlier in the week.Once the sun came out what little bit of snow that was on the ground melted in no time.

Being Thankful

My ISP has been having problems so I haven't been online as much as I would like.Now that it is fixed my time is limited since tomorrow is Thanksgiving.

Thanks Dot and Andrea for checking on me.We had about two inches of snow last Thursday and overnight Thursday night.By the time I got Friday morning there was only a dusting of snow on the ground.It had been warmer in the week so the snow melted as soon as it hit the ground.

This is my grandson Jeremy's first grade picture.We are so very proud of how well he is doing in school and thankful that he doesn't have any serious learning problems.He was born 6 weeks premature weighing only 3 pounds 3 ounces.He was in the NICU for two weeks and in the regular hospital nursery for a week until he reached 4 pounds.Then he was allowed to come home.

He has weak hands and some developmental delays but nothing too serious.He is in the special ed program at school.This year he is in the regular first grade classroom all day except for the hour he spends with the special ed teacher reinforcing what he has learned during the day.An occupational therapist comes to the school and works with him to gain more hand strength.Handwriting is his weakness.Last Friday they got their second report card.He got straight A's.The special ed teacher wanted to keep in back in kindergarten last year due to his immaturity.We knew that he was smart and could do first grade work so our daughter went against the special ed teacher's recommendation.Our grandson is excelling in first grade so we are quite pleased with the decision to promote him to first grade.This is a little of Nana's bragging time but it just makes me so proud of how well he is doing and how well he has adjusted being with his first grade peers most of the school day.

Before Snow

I took this picture this morning since we are expecting our first accumulating snowfall.We have experienced snow flurries off and on all morning.They are saying by tomorrow morning we may have 2-3 inches of snow on the ground.I love to take pictures of snow so I wanted a before picture today.

As you can see the leaves have turned and most have fallen to the ground.We have been experiencing temperatures in the 50's and 60's this week.It is only 35 as I write this.I always enjoy the first snowfall of the season.

This week has turned into another busy week.Went over and watched my granddaughter for a little while so my daughter could get out and do some grocery shopping.Our three year old granddaughter has come down with a cold so it was best for her to stay inside where it was nice and warm.

Busy making plans for our Thanksgiving meal.Really looking forward to the turkey and all of the trimmings.

The Days Fly By

I didn't even realize that the last time I posted was last Tuesday.Last week ended up being a very busy week.

We took our grandson to the yearly Model Train Show held in our area over the weekend.He loves trains and has been a THOMAS TANK ENGINE fan since he was around 2.He has lots of the battery operated Thomas trains and track.We have one of our spare bedrooms set up with track for him to run his trains.

We took him to the train show last year and he loved it.He was a little disappointed in the train show this year since none of the train displays had a Thomas Train running.Guess the grown men didn't think of the thrill of a 6 year old seeing at Thomas train running on a train track along with all of the other trains.

I took several pictures of the different layouts and some of my grandson at some of the layouts.He doesn't look too thrilled in the pictures because of his disappointment that Thomas wasn't running this year.

Now that I look back on last week we were so busy from Tuesday on.Tuesday was Election Day which meant that schools were closed.Our school system uses it as the day for parent teacher conferences.We spent some time with our grandchildren while their parents went to the conference.They got a good report so we were happy about that.

Wednesday and Thursday we had our car worked on then Friday we had an out of town day trip.Hopefully this coming week won't be quite so busy.
